Tate will have you crying on the way to the subway with their new single “Lombard”
Ever get such anxiety that you get lost in your own thoughts as you’re trying to make your way through your day? You misplace your keys or wallet, you constantly repeat yourself in conversation, you forget where you’re walking, or driving, or riding to. Philadelphia indiepop four-piece Tate captures that moment on their breezy new single “Lombard.”
The band, fronted by singer-guitarist Tate Kamish and featuring Tori Roccia on guitar, Natalia Navarra on bass, and John DiCocco on drums, makes emotionally-affecting, yet incredibly upbeat music in the vein of Camera Obscura and Belle & Sebastian, and as the song bounds along like a ride on the Broad Street Line, Kamish sings a melancholic tale of introverted distraction in the wake of personal stress:
i had a long day
i tried to cry on the way
to the train that i take everyday
i don’t know how but i forgot the way
i saw lombard and knew i had gone too far
