Family trio Bailen put on an electrifying performance for NonCOMM Tuesday night. Their six-song set on the PRX stage upstairs at World Cafe Live highlighted songs from their most recent release, Thrilled To Be Here, out now on Fantasy Records. Drawing inspiration from The Staves and Fleet Foxes, Bailen have crafted their own unique sound and are keen to reveal it to the world.

The PRX Stage shined bright as Julia, Daniel, and David Bailen began their set with “Rose Leaves.” The slow opener had everyone swaying from side to side as Julia and Daniel harmonized. It’s no wonder that the three are siblings, because their playing was impeccably together — all three were in sync with one another in a uniquely beautiful way. As they played “Something Tells Me,” they remained rock solid with one other, and the gorgeous harmonies continued. The trio expressed gratitude towards World Cafe Live and XPN, acknowledging the fact that their first performance here is what led them to an opening spot with Amos Lee, a crowd member for their first World Cafe Live performance.

As the set moved along, tempos increased as Bailen performed “I Was Wrong.” The crowd lit up as the trio remained steadily in time with one another. Their set ended with “Not Gonna Take Me,” a great finale that brought the tempo back down to where it began but raised the energy up to its peak. By the set’s end, the crowd was left with wide-smiling faces; things are looking bright for the trio’s future, and we’re thrilled to be along for their ride.

Check out photos from the performance, and listen to their debut record Thrilled To Be Here below. Bailen returns to the region this July to play the XPoNential Music Festival.
