Superstar Cardi B is mad at the media, and for good reason. For the past few years, our news feeds have been ablaze with coverage of the Bronx rapper, and it’s not all been complimentary — brawls she’s been aligned with, shows she’s postponed, things she’s said on Instagram. On “Press,” Cardi address the recent surge of coverage and the media in general, sharing her thoughts.

Produced by KeY Wane and Slade Da Monsta, the track is a monstrous banger that houses a ton of energy. “Press, press, press, press, press, Cardi don’t need more press” she sings, clearly mad at the amount of attention she is receiving. Cardi spits her usual braggadocious bars, referencing Bentley’s and MAC Cosmetics.

Much of the backlash against B came from her plastic surgery after her daughter Kulture’s birth. “[People tell me], ‘You lazy, you should just workout,’” Cardi said on Instagram Live earlier this week. “Like, my job as an entertainer is a 24-hour job, bro. So no, I don’t have time to work out and I wanted specific things that I know that no matter how much I work out, [will] not get fixed.” She also commented on the cancelled shows on Instagram stating, “I hate canceling shows because I love money…I’m a money addict, and I get paid a lot of money, a lot of money for these shows. A lot of money. I’m canceling millions of dollars in shows, but like, health is wealth so I have to do what I have to do.” The tune will hopefully serve as a reminder that Cardi is a regular person too, with regular problems and aspirations.

Cardi is performing at Made In America this Labor Day. Purchase tickets here, and listen to the song below.
