Tate has hit us right in the feelings twice so far this year, first with their single “Lombard” in May, and then with “Bad Hangover” in June. Both songs have reappeared on the group’s first ever LP After You, along with six others that’ll make you laugh, question how you’re living your life (and maybe cry a little).

The record covers isolation and anxiety, as we heard in the previously released singles, but also how draining it can be to emotionally support somebody, how memories can randomly flood your brain all at once, and how sometimes we’re all unsure of our independence. These existential questions are raised by Tate in their usual quirky way, in frontwoman Tate Kamish’s usual, tender voice, paired with bouncy melodies. The EP is perfect for riding solo on the train, thinking about life, and symbolically flipping off every trial and tribulation you’ve faced thus far.

Tate will play their record release show at Bourbon & Branch on Friday, July 12th. They’ll also play the 2019 Philly Music Fest on Friday, September 27th at World Cafe Live. Ticket info can be found on the XPN Concert Calendar.
