Foxtrot & the Get Down started off this year’s #XPNFest with a high-energy performance at Wiggins Park. Band members strutted on stage wearing 76ers jerseys and made a point before their performance to acknowledge their love for XPN and the City of Brotherly Love. A six-piece band formed of life-long Philadelphians that attended West Chester University, they are inspired by elements of blues, pop, and rock indicative of their city roots.

Foxtrot & The Get Down opened with “Down & Out,” a vivacious single released back in 2018. A perfect intro, the song highlights the talents of all band members. With lead vocals from Erica Ruiz, Jimmy Lovine on drums, Eric Berk and Colin Budny on guitar, and Ken Bianco on bass, the group’s performances are more like harmonious jam sessions.

Other tracks, like the band’s cover of Alicia Key’s “If I Ain’t Got You,” allowed Ruiz and saxophonist Will Schade to steal the show. For a perfect closing number, the band brought the tempo right back up with their latest single “Legends Don’t Die,” this week’s #GottaHearSong on the XPN airwaves. The group’s set brought an infectious energy to XPoNential’s afternoon as seen by a constantly clapping and dancing audience. Check out photos and listen back to their set below.
