Sometimes you find a song so good that you want it to last forever. That is the case with the latest Trap Rabbit single. “Chunnel Through The Garden” is another slice of psychedelic alt jazz that sounds as if it could be stretched ad infinitum. Sadly though, the song is just under 3 minutes, so the repeat button will have to suffice.

According to the band, “Chunnel Through The Garden” was improvised on the spot. The only thing changed after its initial recording was the addition of some small sound effects. The improvisational nature of the piece is a testament to Arjun Dube and Logan Roth ability to musically communicate with each other. Their playing, drums and keys respectively, sounds so tied together. If you were to separate them, they would sound incomplete. The aforementioned addition of sound effects just plunges the song even further into jazz’s colorful and explosive future.

“Chunnel Through The Garden” is the first taste of Trap Rabbit’s upcoming EP, titled Songs About Worms. So, if for some reason “Chunnel” itself doesn’t intrigue you, the EP’s title will. Songs About Worms follows Trap Rabbit’s 2018 EP Empress and “Upward Mobility”, which they released earlier this year.

Trap Rabbit will play Ardmore Music Hall on Saturday, September 14th with Octave Cat and Paris Monster. Find tickets and more information on the XPN Concert Calendar.
