Now that it’s August, it’s officially if you’re not afraid, I’m not afraid month! On the 23rd of this month, Queen of Jeans will release their new album, and we can not wait. To tide us over until the full album drops, the Philly trio has shared the video for the album’s second single, “All The Same.” In the video, Miriam Devora serenades couples on dates and explores the experience of being tied to someone despite the dissolution of a relationship.

The “All The Same” video, which was directed by Devora and Bob Sweeney, opens with Devora moving her stuff out of her ex’s place. She then sulks on the curb before being handed her guitar by bandmates Mattie Glass and Patrick Wall. The rest of the video sees Devora singing next to couples on dates. She is smushed by their PDA and reduced to sharing her chair. Through all of this, Devora and the song examine what it feels like to move on after a relationship has started to unravel. On the song, Devora said the following:

“I wrote this song loosely based on the end of a friend’s relationship. They were together for a long time and kind of grew up together, but unfortunately in the process of growing as individuals, one of them fell in love with someone else. It took awhile for them to fully move on from one another because of the nature of their living situation, so even as they were starting to do things separately from one another, at times it felt like they were still involved.”

“All The Same” is our second taste of if you’re not afraid. Last month, the band shared “Get Lost”, which deals with the grief Devora experienced after losing her mother. Its video features the band destroying things with a baseball bat. Watching it is highly recommended. Recreating it is not.

To celebrate their album’s release, Queen of Jeans will play Boot & Saddle on Friday, September 6th. Find tickets and more information on the XPN Concert Calendar.
