PorchFest, a concept that’s increasingly popular in cities across the country, will return to the suburb of South Wayne for the third year in a row. On September 14, the community will close off five residential blocks to traffic and transform the neighborhood into an outdoor music venue, using porches as their stages to host more than 60 local acts.

South Wayne PorchFest’s organizers have put together a diverse roster of performers, spanning genres from bluegrass to R&B to zydeco. “We are beyond excited for this year’s PorchFest,” founder Cathy Agnew shared in a press release. “The variety of acts we’ve scheduled is truly amazing — everything from solo acoustic to a large funk/rock ensemble, from gospel to marching bands…we even have clog dancers.”

According to musician Kristen Conrad, whose band Almost There will perform at the event, “South Wayne PorchFest is such a wonderful way to bring the community together through the common bond of music…There really is an exciting energy that PorchFest gives to the community each year.”

Familiar names in the lineup include aughts folk-pop favorites Stargazer Lily and the funky, soulful singer-songwriter Cookie Rabinowitz, but there’s plenty more to discover, too.
