“There are live five live streams in my feed right now,” said Key contributor Rachel Barrish in a text with me on Thursday night. True, the coronavirus quarantine has made our life on social media more sensory overload than ever, but consider the positives: in the past when you had to choose between four or five concerts in a single night, you really only wound up seeing one show…maybe two? Now you can bounce between gigs and virtual hangouts to your heart’s content.

In addition to tonight’s previously-announced live concert with Harmony Woods and friends [7 p.m. ET, more on that here] and the livestream festivals from Home Outgrown Presents [beginning tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET, more here] and Don Giovanni Records [beginning Monday at 1 p.m. ET, more here], here are some newly announced livestreams we recommend checking out to stay connected to your favorite artists (and maybe support them a bit via Venmo or CashApp).

Hang Time With Oaks

“I have no idea what I’m doing but let’s figure it out together,” says Tim Showalter about Strand of Oaks’ Instagram live hangout today at 4 p.m. CST / 5 p.m. EST. His flyer promises “Questions answered! Synths, Sue, Reading, Dub, Laughs, TNG, Light Show, Music, 90s NBA, Geography, Art, Books, Facts, Non-Lonely.” Hopefully the Showalter cats make an appearance as well. [INFO]

Isolation Sessions With The Goodbye Party’s Michael Cantor

The latest in the Isolation Sessions series, organized by Scott Troyan (a Philly photographer / my DJ partner) takes place tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET with The Goodbye Party’s Michael Cantor. Last we saw Cantor, we got word that a new TGP record is almost wrapped up, and should see the light of day this year. Money raised will go to performers and out-of-a-job service industry workers. Courtney Barnett, Lucius and Friends, Live From Our Lounge Rooms

Courtney Barnett has rounded up a slate of her music friends — Sharon Van Etten, Sheryl Crow, Bedouine, Nathaniel Rateliff, Lukas Nelson and more — for a virtual gig this Sunday to raise money for Oxfam’s COVID-19 relief fund, which is helping the poverty relief organization delivery of soap, clean water, and sanitation services to refugees and others in higher-risk environments. “Their teams are on the ground now, providing advice and support tailored to local languages and customs, and scaling up this work as the pandemic continues to spread,” writes Barnett.
