In the latest stop for the promotion cycle of Phoebe Bridgers‘ sophomore album, Punisher, the LA-based singer/songwriter teamed up with Arlo Parks to perform two gorgeously stripped-back songs: Radiohead’s “Fake Plastic Trees” and Bridgers’ own “Kyoto.” Parks, an 18-year old, London-based musician has been exploding in popularity recently; two of her most popular songs (“Eugene” and “Black Dog”) have accumulated millions of Spotify streams in just a few months.

Bridgers’ performance is raw and delicate, almost unusually emotive for the singer with a notoriously deadpan delivery. The studio version of “Kyoto,” one of the lead singles from Punisher, is upbeat and sunny; power-pop at its finest. This rendition, on the other hand, is bare, only supported by Parks’ gentle harmonies and piano plodding. Their cover of “Fake Plastic Trees” is similarly minimal; Bridgers’ tender approach to the Radiohead ballad is nothing short of haunting.
