This week, Philly musician and transdisciplinary artist justmadnice released their debut EP, Small, to provide comfort in a time when it’s much-needed. The EP’s four tracks, full of ethereal vocals wrapped up in sparse instrumentation, channel what it means to be “complicatedly human” as the artist finds their place in the world while calling out to others who need to hear the same message.

According to justmadnice, “this EP is about moving on, moving forward, and finally coming to a place where I believe I am good enough. That’s the symbolic gesture of it all. Putting your music ‘out there’ isn’t easy. Putting yourself out there isn’t easy. You need hope, trust, and a little bit of fairy dust. I know that sounds silly but honestly that’s what it feels like. I’m letting these songs go — these moments where I would shrink myself because I believed I was undeserving. This release is about release. I’m not small and neither are these songs.”

For “anyone who is feeling small, lost, or unloved,” justmadnice hopes that their songs will provide comfort. “Just remember: you are loved and you deserve to take up space.”
