This weekend, local Philadelphia DIY music publication Philth Zine is hosting a virtual music festival in celebration of the release of their second print edition and to benefit the North Philly Peace Park. The virtual festival, Philth Peace Phest, will be taking place all day on February 20th, streaming live from the zine’s YouTube.

Performing on the livestream are more than a dozen Philly favorites, including Afloat, Brick Nova, A Day Without Love, Greg Mendez, and Yeet. Philth spoke about the zine and the organization they’re supporting via email:

“[Peace Park] is an organization that not only has an active fence-free organic farm based in North Philly but has also grown into a popular charitable eco campus and passive park that provides free programs to the greater Philadelphia community. It is a grassroots organization with a dedicated volunteer staff and a membership base strongly rooted in its surrounding neighborhoods. They are currently looking to build a brand new Peace Pavilion, which will help bring future generations together and complete the park.”

With its second physical zine release, Philth looks to highlight new music from local independent artists that covers all genres:

“We also interview local venues, record labels, producers, engineers, and more, trying to view the music community as a whole. The zine also hopes to cover thought pieces that talk about ethics and politics in the music industry. We feature local visual artists and welcome anyone to participate who might be interested and passionate in writing about local independent music.”

Zine issues are available for pre-order via the Philth Instagram here via DM or email at philthzine@gmail.com. Check out the setlist and times for the Philth Peace Phest below.
