Over a thousand artists will gather (virtually) next week for what is quite possibly the largest live-streamed music festival to date. Folk Alliance International’s Folk Unlocked festival will run February 22 to the 26 and feature a “musical trip around the world,” with over 800 hours of music by artists from all 50 states and 30+ countries.

There are plenty of familiar faces in the lineup, including Los Lobos, Keb’ Mo’, Jade Bird, Katie Pruitt, The War & Treaty, Michaela Anne, and Dom Flemons. Other highlights include the all-female mariachi band Flor de Toloache, zydeco artist Terrance Simien with his daughter Marcella Simien, Canadian First Nations gospel artist William Prince. The festival will close with a Global Music Marathon that pairs artists with their counterparts around the world.

“We’re thrilled with the depth and diversity of the musical lineup,” says Folk Alliance International executive director Aengus Finnan. “This event won’t just be close to home, it will literally be in your home, but what is clear is that it is absolutely far from ordinary.”

Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Village Fund, which provides relief for musicians and those working in the folk music industry that have been hard hit by the pandemic.
