Ron Gallo releases PEACEMEAL and announces Free Food Day at Repo Records

If you’re hungry or looking for a fun, slightly erratic album, Ron Gallo has you covered. This Friday, the Philly born artist will release his new album, PEACEMEAL. To celebrate, he’s announced “Free Food Day.” This Saturday, March 6 you can head over to Repo Records on South St. to get some free food starting at noon and going until the food is gone.

The album itself is aptly named. PEACEMEAL combines a variety of genres, from jazz to lo-fi to punk, into something that resonates distinctly as Gallo’s own unique sound. This album keeps all of the fun of his past work while deepening Gallo’s artistic vision into a whole new space.

But it isn’t just the broad scope of the music itself that lends the album depth. PEACEMEAL deals with heavy topics, but also reflects on how to find happiness in yourself and for those around you despite the difficulties in our world. All of this stems from the time that the album was written. Gallo wrote almost all of the songs for PEACEMEAL while in isolation-but not because of the pandemic. A press releases explains the circumstances surrounding this albums creation in a bit more detail:

Most of these songs were written and recorded during a period of self-isolation last summer when Gallo was forced back to America from Italy due to immigration issues where he had planned to stay with his now-wife and collaborator, Chiara, until she got her visa.  A time that personally felt weirdly similar to everyone’s situation mid-pandemic less than a year later.
