The east coast jazz collective Irreversible Entanglements will release a new album, Open The Gates, this autumn on International Anthem and Don Giovanni Records.

This will be the ensemble’s third studio album; they’ve also released various singles and live recordings over the past few years, in addition to individual members’ solo output — Philadelphia-based vocalist Camae Ayewa also has an album as Moor Mother on the way this fall via ANTI- Records, while the band’s saxophone player Keir Neuringer, also from Philly, released Elegies & Litanies last year with the Netherlands-based group Ensemble Klang.

Irreversible Entanglements is rounded out by D.C. bassist Luke Stewart, as well as trumpeter Aquiles Navarro and drummer Tcheser Holmes, both from New York. Along with news of Open The Gates — which Don Giovanni says in a press release will further the collective’s themes of anti-racism and Black and Brown liberation with an expanded sonic palette — comes a music video for the title track, which at just under three-minutes is possibly the punchiest release in the band’s catalog, and a poignant prologue for what’s to come.

Watch below; Irreversible Entanglements has several tour dates this fall, including a sold-out appearance at World Cafe Live on October 6th for Philly Music Fest. More on that festival here and get their full tour calendar below; preorder Open The Gateshere.
