After joining the roster at Epitaph Records last year, celebrated Philadelphia punk four-piece Soul Glo announced its first full-length record for the label; Diaspora Problems, due out March 25th. A vinyl release follows later this year on Secret Voice, the imprint of Touché Amoré’s Jeremy Bolm.

The album finds the band — comprised of vocalist Pierce Jordan, guitarist Ruben Polo, bassist / vocalist / programmer GG Guerra, and drummer TJ Stevenson — delivering a dozen tracks punctuated by an incredible roster of guests, including RVA rapper McKinley Dixon (whose For My Mama And Anyone Who Look Like Her was one of our favorite albums of 2021) and Philly peers lojii (read Melissa Simpson’s interview with him here) and Bearcat (read Alex Smith’s review of their last project here).

In a press release statement, the band talks of how the new album is about “the disposability of Black art and its creators and the mental anguish of having “big big plans” in a time when a future is not guaranteed.”

“Many artists feel as though time is a consistent adversary when it comes to the production of their work, but there is a population of people within this group who fear even more the probability of their time permanently coming to a close before they can enjoy the fruit of their labor. Many Black artists who reach superstar status do so posthumously or have a limited amount of time to establish their legacy.”

The announcement came with a brilliantly satirical music video for “Jump!! (Or Get Jumped!!!) ((by the future)),” which you can watch below. The band heads out on tour this year with Circa Survive, and they’ll play two sold-out dates at The FIllmore on March 4th and 5th.
