There’s plenty of truth to be found this weekend in the old saying “Too much music, not enough time.” Every year when I go to SXSW, I am immediately overwhelmed by the choices and sheer number of bands that I want to see. But the secret to making it through SXSW is to not get hung up on what you’ll miss and to just focus on a show-going schedule that you can actually make work. This year’s Philly F/M Fest is a lot like that: a ton of excellent music (and movies), and no possible way to take everything in. With that, here’s our picks for the Saturday and Sunday. (Warning: obviously biased and self-promotional content below.)

Saturday, September 25th
We’ve got our fingers crossed that the big show on your radar for Saturday night is The Key Launch Party at The Blockley, featuring performances by Adam & Dave’s Bloodline, Busses, New Motels, and The Sky Drops—all of which Helen Leicht highlighted as her picks of the week. It’s pretty safe to say that we’re extremely stoked about the show.

Sunday, September 26th
One show on Sunday that has a don’t-miss lineup includes the reunited Baby Flamehead, two outstanding singer-songwrtiters in Hezekiah Jones and Johnny Miles, the always-pumping-it-up Slo-Mo & Mic Wrecka, and the beautiful folk sounds of Papertrees at the Crane Arts Outdoor Stage. Starts at 4 p.m.

Looking for a trip down punk rock memory lane? You may want to check out the Grant Hart (formerly of Husker Du) with Golden Bloom (backed by Philly’s Canadian Invasion) and Robbers On High Street at World Cafe Live. Starts at 7:30 p.m., with Hart going on at 11:15 p.m.

The Panic Years (featuring Y-Rock On XPN DJ Amy Miller) will be at The Blockley at midnight and the hip-hop group Gods’Illa will be letting it flow at at Club Risque Upstairs at 11 p.m.
