The Montreal band Elephant Stone is playing The Westmoreland on Saturday, October 20th. They’re doing an East Coast swing, after playing several shows at CMJ. The band was formed in 2009 by singer/sitarist/bassist Rishi Dhir and released their debut album, The Seven Seas. With a new album due in February 2013, they’ve got a new two song single out now on Hidden Pony that more than meets our psychedelic power pop expectations. In exchange for your e-mail address below, you can download the A-side, “Loving The Sinner, Hate The Sin.” It’s 3 minutes and nineteen seconds of pure jangly pop bliss. Imagine a song where it’s possible to co-mingle some of the finest moments by Teenage Fanclub, The La’s and XTC and you’ve got an instant classic of the genre. Read an interview with Rishi Dhir here at CMJ.com. And yes, Elephant Stone is the name of a Stone Roses song.
