As honest as honest songwriters get, Nova Scotia based musician Chris Luedecke and his nom de twang Old Man Luedecke arrived at the WXPN Studio in early September before his show at the now (possibly) defunct Jamey’s House of Music. For a man who has won a number of Juno Awards (the Canadian Grammy, essentially) and has released five critically acclaimed albums, including 2012’s Tender Is The Night, dude seems to hustle around endlessly, playing solo in what looks to be every continent, country, state, heck – even zip code (as I write this, he just announced a full Canadian tour in early 2014). I like to imagine that he’s a kind of traveling preacher, bringing the good word to folks both near and far. The truth isn’t so far off – Luedecke sings songs for the common man, simple songs of truth, of struggle and overcoming, of following your dreams. He’s quick with a story, anecdote, or joke to draw you in, adorning them with masterful banjo or guitar picking. Chris Luedecke is a straight shooter with a love for playing and performing. While we are only debuting four songs, Chris recorded quite a few more than that (perhaps we’ll share in the future).

Until then, please enjoy Old Man Luedecke’s Folkadelphia Session, recorded September 7th, 2013 at the WXPN Performance Studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
