Recently, Kiley Lotz, the founding member from Scranton’s Petal and Jacob Ewald, co-frontman of Philly’s Modern Baseball, got together to record a fantastic Space Jam Session. Earlier this year, Modern Baseball did their own Space Jam Session and a great Key Studio Session. Last year, Petal signed onto Run For Cover Records and released its debut EP Scout. Recently, the band played at the Three Man Cannon Record Release at the Golden Tea House.

For their session, the duo did an acoustic version of “The New Year” by Death Cab for Cutie. Stripped of the original song’s loud drums and guitars, Edwald and Lotz’s sweet duet really draws attention to its wistful tone. Watch the video, as well as the original song, below. Check out the previous SpaceJam sessions with Cayetana and Radiator Hospital. Catch Modern Baseball’s drummer Sean Huber along with Steady Hands and W.C. Lindsay August 13th at the Fire.
