Our pals over at Philebrity have announced they’re starting a new live, monthly game show, Games People Play. When we first heard the news, we were hoping for an evening of competitive Mousetrap. Rather, the description of Philebrity’s Games People Play is:

Blending comedy, music, banter and original games, it’s an evening program of entertainment that’s sort of a cross between NPR’s Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me and your favorite comedy podcast. Each time around, your hosts Chris Cummins – who also hosts the popular Nerd Nite – Ben Leach, and Joey Sweeney will be joined by guest comedians, musicians and other persons of interest as they play original, audience-participation-friendly games such as:

The Cost Is Correct, in which contestants are shown catalog items from the 1980s and must guess the price;
Just Save One, a sort of Sophie’s Choice/FMK where the contestant must save one of three items/people/whatever from destruction and present their reasoning to an unfriendly audience;
I’m Thinking Of A Number, in which our visiting comedian thinks of a number and the audience has to guess it,
and…
Hungry Hungry Hipsters, our special high-pressure lightning round game!

In between games, there will be short segments of comedy and music. And prizes!

Hey, you can’t have a game show without prizes, right? Anyway, Games People Play starts Wednesday, June 17th at L’Etage. Go here for more information.
