Last November, The Spirit Of The Beehive signed to Tiny Engines with promise of a their sophomore LP on the way. That promise is finally coming to fruition, as Pleasure Suck, their first for the new label, is out this March 24th. In anticipation of its release, they’ve shared its first single, “Ricky (Caught Me Tryin’)”. It comes paired with a colorful, psychedelic visual, and you can stream it below.

I’m not even going to try to describe what happens in the video. You’ll just have to see for yourself, but I will say it reflects the way “Ricky” sounds perfectly. The band sounds like it’s melting as the guitars, keyboards, and vocals warble their way through charming the track’s charming, off-kilter hooks. When the vocal harmonies pop in around the 0:50 minute mark, its as triumphant as it is stomach-churning, and just when you think its over, they ride the song out with a modulated organ lullaby.

If you want to catch The Spirit Of The Beehive live, they’re playing Baird Mansion Atrium on February 20th. For tickets and more information, head over to Facebook.
