Philly instrumental duo In Place just released a new single, “Spiral Daze,” and the title just about says it all.  If you think you can multi-task or do anything other than be completely whisked away by this song, then you are about to be very much mistaken. No matter what you’re doing, this tune will slow down the busy-ness around you, and let you feel a whole lot calmer and composed than before.

As the opening soft and steady acoustic strums float into consciousness, the song commands your mind’s full attention and acts as a much-needed hug for your brain. Even with bits of fuzzed-out guitars and heavy percussion splashing throughout, the tune manages to lull you away as it ebbs and flows with ambient chords and spiraling synth.

Though “Spiral Daze” swells on for a good seven and a half minutes, the second it begins fading out and drifting away into oblivion, you’re left wanting the soothing sounds to linger on. Thank goodness for replay buttons.

You can experience this moving song live when In Time performs at Vox Populi on June 7th, along with Hotel Neon and NYC Composer, Christopher Tignor. Find more info on the show here, and listen to “Spiral Daze” below.
