It’s safe to say that hip hop artist Travis Scott is having one of, if not the biggest run of his career. After releasing his third album (and first to garner mass critical acclaim), ASTROWORLD, and dominating the charts with hits like “Sicko Mode” and “Stargazing” throughout the summer, the Houston rapper has been bringing heat for the fall and winter with his Astroworld: Wish You Were Here Tour. If you were at the sold out Wells Fargo Center this past Saturday then you may have felt that your wish was granted by being there in and witnessing young La Flame rage through the late night with his die hard Philadelphia fans.

Throughout the night, the City of Brotherly Love kept their energy to a thousand, mosh pitting from opening act to headliner. The first one up to bat was Travis Scott’s latest signee to his Cactus Jack imprint on Good Music, Sheck Wes, who sparked the fire with his monster hit “Mo Bamba.” Up next was the red loc’d rocker Trippie Redd, who made sure to come out swinging for his first time in Philly and even dedicated a part of his performance to his late friend and hip hop artist XXXTentacion by performing “Fuck Love.” The final opening act was rising QC star Gunna, who wasn’t impressive as a performer, but his hits kept the crowd hyped up. He even brought out Philly’s Lil Uzi Vert to perform “Life Goes On” and even let Uzi performed his new single “New Patek.”

As the opening acts finished their sets, the Wells Fargo Center started to pack out from the nosebleed to good seats to the floor as everyone prepared for Scott’s arrival, and once he stepped onstage, he was ready to lead his beloved fans to Astroworld for the ride of their life. The budget for this must have been crazy because it allowed Travis to go all the way out to entertain his loyal fans: having a ferris wheel outside and roller coaster rails inside, he made sure to bring Philly the same experience he had at the theme park that influenced his album.

The visuals, lights, lasers, smoke and fire matched the energy at the show and made it feel like you were inside a video game. It’s best to know the words to Travis’s songs before going to his show, because it might be difficult to discern his vocals while he’s in the moment, but to be honest, on Saturday night it really didn’t matter. The crowd was filled with die hard Travis Scott fans who have seen the La Flame fire grow from The Fillmore to Wells Fargo Center, losing their minds over favorites such as “Upper Echelon,” “Mamacita,” “Antidote,”  “Through the Late Night” “Yosemite,” and many more. With people riding the on the Astroworld roller-coaster,  getting on stage, crowd surfing and dancing it’s safe to say that Travis Scott left Philadelphia happy that they purchased their tickets to Astroworld.
